Company Information & History
Secure Freight’s first offices opened in 1987. What started out as a Vancouver-based company grew to operate offices across North America as well as overseas. The immediate focus was inbound freight from the Far East as many other overseas freight forwarders did not have any North American networks at the time. Secure Freight quickly gained a strong reputation in the shipping sector, thanks to the positive response and support of the local importing community. In the years that followed, we expanded to cover all major North American hubs, enabling us to reach not only large cities but re-forward cargo to many in-land locations such as those in the prairies and the mid-west. With increased trade volume between Canada and United States, Secure Freight expanded and continues to expand south to provide our clients and agents with reliable and efficient services across North America.
We focus on pre-planning and tailoring effective solutions to each individual client to best handle their unique shipping needs. Secure Freight handles cargo of different nature, sizes and shapes, varying from textiles, garments, electronics, lumber, perishables and dangerous goods. Knowledge of products and country-specific regulations and requirements allow us to best prepare, maintain smooth operations and ensure deliveries are made on time.
Now with six corporate offices across the Americas, Secure Freight aims to continue our growth and success through continued self-evaluation and improvement. Global Network
Secure Freight has developed a global network that covers all major cities around the world. This network is based in part on our agent network. We carefully select each agent based on their qualifications including breadth of services, local network, experience level, communication skills, overall credibility, financial stability and efficiency. Frequently, we have to meet them in person, tour around their facilities and do further research and background checks to qualify them. It is a slow process that must be done thoroughly to ensure that all members of the Secure Freight network are committed to the same high level of service that our customers have come to expect. With over 100 agents working with us around the world, transportation logistics services are just one simple phone call away, even if you require the handling of an inter-Asia shipment to your vendor or client.
The tracking of your order is simplified with our centralized information systems. We are able to keep track of worldwide shipments allowing our customers to receive updates automatically once a shipment is booked and on board, no matter where the shipment is made. The hassle of calling several parties to track your shipment is completely eliminated.
Strengths
Through the support of our many customers, we have developed frequent consolidations from major ports in Hong Kong, China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia. We have also advanced our reach into Europe, building up a strong network of agents in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. We handle a broad range of goods for shipment and understand the particular needs of various industry groups. For clients in the perishable and garment/textiles industries, we recognize the seasonal nature of your business. We work with you in pre-planning your shipping lots for your seasonal debut or new store opening.
Time is also a critical concern for our customers. Secure Freight understands the significance of time and strives to route shipments in the quickest and most direct routing to achieve maximum efficiency. From the issuance of the purchase order to final delivery, we stand by our customers, communicating with vendors and ensuring that all parties are fully aware of the status of the shipment.
Plans & Development
Secure Freight strives to provide ever more comprehensive logistics services to our Canadian and global customers. The niche of the company is to utilize our resources and expertise in international transportation logistics to streamline the importing and exporting procedures of our customers. Many customers have unique buying & selling patterns, depending on the commodities they specialize in. Some ship all year round with certain “high” seasons, and others are completely seasonal and even based on harvest times. Some ship in bulk quantities, and others who specialize in projects, ship in large and odd dimensions. Some ship their products fresh, and others send them frozen. Shippers need to find a logistics provider who understands how to fulfill their needs. At Secure Freight, we sincerely believe that our group of highly experienced staff and our diverse service offerings will be the right choice for you.
As we move forward, there are many new regional and bilateral trade agreements and negotiations undertaken while others are still in the works. The Canada-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement, The Canada-Chile Free Trade Agreement, APEC 2002, G8 Summit and other similar arrangements enhance market access, trade and investment into different countries for Canadian businesses. Secure Freight will continue to explore the tremendous opportunities these free trade agreements yield with special attention to Asian Pacific trade as China emerges as one of the top trading partners with North America. Their entry into the WTO will no doubt affect many businesses in Canada and the United States. Import and export volumes will increase substantially with duty free and quota free access gradually being implemented over the coming years.
When we think about high technology products, we often think of companies in Silicon Valley and other parts of California. But we also have a significant high tech industry in Canada that produces leading edge computers, components and digital machinery, just to name a few. Over the years, we have been fortunate to be trusted by many high tech companies and have gained an excellent reputation for handling their products. Arranging air ride services, special carrier handling and appropriate labelling are just some of the services and measures we take to ensure these sensitive high tech products are securely delivered.
